Important Information

Online Registration A. BSGC2017 is catered to graduate students in the Biological Sciences. Applicants (aka Registrants) must be a current Masters or PhD student (part time or full time) in the Biological Sciences at the time of application; or have graduated from a Masters or PhD programme in the Biological Sciences no more than one year prior to the time of application. Exceptions may be made, e.g. for faculty attending as chaperones, at the discretion of the Congress Secretariat. Applicants may be of any nationality and the organisation they are studying in may be located in any country.
B. Online registration is for NON-INVITED participants only. If you are an invited participant from the University of Malaya, Chulalongkorn University, National Tsing Hua University or National Cheng Kung University, you should register through your official liaison instead.
Note: if you are a non-invited participant from one of these universities, you may still register below.
C. Applicants from the Department of Biological Sciences, NUS should register below.

  • 40 fully subsidised slots (covering the Admission Fee and Gala Dinner only) are available to DBS students on a first-come-first-served basis.
  • DBS students who present at BSGC2017 will be given priority for the 2018 BSGC scheduled to be held in Bangkok.
Abstract Submission A. Each applicant may submit only ONE Abstract at a time. If your Abstract is rejected, you may rewrite and resubmit a new Abstract, provided it is submitted before the stipulated deadline.
B. The Abstract shall be written in English. The Title shall not exceed 100 characters, and the Abstract shall not exceed 200 words.
C. References, figures and tables shall not be used in the Abstract.
D. The Congress secretariat reserves the right to reject any Abstract that does not meet these requirements.
E. The Congress secretariat shall inform general registrants of the outcome of their application by 14 Nov 2017, 2359H Singapore time (GMT+8).
Acceptance and Payment A. Successful registrants will be sent a Letter of Acceptance containing payment instructions. At this point, if payment is not made by the deadline, the application will be rejected. Upon receipt of full payment, the Congress secretariat will then send an official Letter of Confirmation together with the Acceptance Package.
B. Congress admission fees (for both presenting and non-presenting participants) are S$165. This fee covers only:

  • Admission to all Congress sessions.
  • Breakfast, lunch and tea breaks on 19th and 20th Dec 2017.
  • The Congress booklet and door gift.

In addition, registrants may sign up for the following:

  • The Gala Dinner on 20th Dec 2017: S$10. This amount is heavily subsidised as we would like to encourage all participants to attend the dinner. The prize presentation ceremony for award winners will also be held during the Gala dinner.
  • A Heritage Tour on 21st Dec 2017, from 9 am to 1 pm: S$15. The tour will take participants to 2 places: the Lee Kong Chian National History Museum, and the Singapore Botanic Gardens. This amount is also subsidised by sponsors specially for BSGC2017.
  • An official Conference T-Shirt: S$10. The t-shirt design and sizing information can be viewed Here (opens in new tab).

Online registrants will have to arrange and bear the cost for the following themselves:

  • Travel to and from Singapore.
  • Travel within Singapore.
  • Accommodation in Singapore. The Acceptance Package will contain suggestions for nearby accommodations, and also a link to reserve accommodations at the Congress venue (i.e. residences in UTown) at a subsidised rate.
  • All meals not mentioned above.
  • All other expenses not mentioned above.
